Thanks Mithu! That answer really depends on the company culture. Some companies reward and expect individual contributions from those on the IC ladder while others will recognize leadership contributions. I'd encourage the pseudo-manager to discuss this with their manager and understand clearly what's expected and rewarded at their company.
